The board of Lithuanian railways had become international
The board of Lithuanian Railways ( AB „Lietuvos geležinkeliai"), which is currently engaged in developing an ambitious long-term strategy, has been reinforced by two new independent members. After an international selection process, Christian Kuhn and Alditas Saulius were appointed to the board.
Christian Kuhn has 22 years of experience working in international companies, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of strategy, changes, investment and sales projects, large-scale logistics projects, and the development of company groups.
Alditas Saulius has been working at a banking system for more than two decades, where he was responsible for the development of banking strategy and business plans, day-to-day bank management, risk management, process optimisation, and the consolidation of individual activities.
"The competences of the new board members will help Lietuvos geležinkeliai to complete the development of the long-term strategy, achieve its ambitious goals, and implement strategic projects. Furthermore, another important change took place today – the board has switched to English as its operational language", said Chairman of the Board Romas Švedas.
Christian Kuhn has been a board member at Kazakhstan's national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy since 2014, where he also serves as Chairman of the Committee for Strategy and Innovation. In the past, he held different managing positions at the Deutsche Bahn railway group, and worked at Connex and Martrade Holding.
Alditas Saulius held managing positions at the former DnB Nord bank, and later at the Lithuanian branch of Danske Bank. Since 2017, Alditas Saulius has been a board member at the LLC Investment and Business Guarantees.
"A fully formed board will contribute to ensuring the successful operation of Lietuvos geležinkeliai, the creation of value for the state, and the implementation of such international projects as Rail Baltica", said Director General of Lietuvos geležinkeliai Mantas Bartuška.
The board of Lietuvos geležinkeliai is currently comprised of seven members, five of whom are independent. The other independent board members apart from Christian Kuhn and Alditas Saulius are Romas Švedas, Monika Rimkūnaitė-Bložė, and Rolandas Zukas. The board also includes the Director General of Lietuvos geležinkeliai Mantas Bartuška, and Director of the Road Transportation and Civil Aviation Policy Department under the Ministry of Transport and Communications Vladislav Kondratovič.
